Happy International Day of Education

Today, the world is celebrating the forth International Day of Education under the theme “Changing course, transforming education”. The United National General Assembly proclaimed the day as International Day of Education on January 24th, 2018. It is highly important to demonstrate this day the possible steps that needs to be made to provide a fundamental right for education for every child.

We always say each opportunity where we can act and transform  our world as Helen Parkhurst called for needs to be fully exploited.  Dalton International believe that creating appropriate conditions for children to grow to the fullness of their potential across the world is necessary.

Dalton International would like to wish all International Dalton Schools worldwide a Happy International Day of Education.

Grade 1 students in Wenzhou make a final semester evaluation.

Grade 1 students  in Wenzhou Dalton International School did the evaluation of their work in the school semester 2021/2022. On the basis of their experience, they set the the goals for the upcoming school semester. The assessment for learning implemented this school year made children more aware of what they have already learned and helped them to improve their future performance. Consequently, children obtain a sense of the feeling that they are owners of their own learning process. "Hope Maps" created by children help them to understand the learning process and make their learning more efficient. Thanks to new assessment for learning techniques of giving feedback, children have a better overview of what there strengths and weaknesses are. Such constructed learner's feedback guide learner to reflect on their learning, take action and let them move forward on their Dalton journey.

The process of implementation of Independency was worked out in the school into the concrete form. In order to optimize the children's independency, the team of teachers is developing and implementing their common path of self-directed learning.

Personalized learning and stimulating children's intrinsic motivation are demonstrated in everyday school life.

Innovative English School Section in Shenzhen Dalton School

    English section of Shenzhen Xinhua Dalton School is actively promoting innovations in ELT. The English Experimental School in Shenzhen has been actively working with “Let’s Daltonize English” for already third year.

Let’s Daltonize English is a set of 150 free choice assignments based on a structure of:

📌Multiple Intelligences
📌Bloom’s taxonomy in a cognitive domain.

📒In this issue of “Dalton Times”, the children's assignments from "Let's Daltonize English" were published. Children’s task was to solve the real life problem in the form of a short story, poster, presentation or a short drama, in case of an older children class debate. Children are free to choose the way they would like to make an assignment. The idea of the project is to promote and engage constructive learning with the key elements such as:
📚reflection;
📚ownership;
📚solving authentic problem;
📚collaborative learning;
📚peer assessment,
📚deriving from previous experience to construct the new knowledge.

By solving global issues from different scientific fields, children learn not only the new vocabulary, but also think constructively and critically.✍📓🧑‍

Every child is unique, every child is excellent....

⭐️What factors make Chinese Dalton schools so special?

 During my last session with Shenzhen Dalton Xinhua School the teacher's answer on one of the most important aspects of Independency was self-discipline of the children.

 ⭐️What makes a Chinese Dalton vision so unique?

In Shenzhen Xinhua Dalton School, most of all:

 ✅Combining Dalton Education with Chinese Characters;
 ✅Fostering children to integrate into a globalized world;
 ✅"4C" Skills (Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Communication, Innovation, Cooperation);   ✅Development of children's talents;
 ✅Mixed Age Family Management;
 ✅Personalized Evaluation and reflection;
 ✅Considerate Life Experience;
 ✅Contract Learning method;
 ✅Every child is unique;
 ✅Every Child is excellent

A review of the 4th Art Exhibition of Wenzhou Dalton International School

A review of the 4th Art Exhibition of Wenzhou Dalton International School is a great way to build the children’s confidence, and bring school community together. It’s a fun-filled event that appeals to elementary school children. Both parents and teachers envisioned a showcase, not a contest—which meant no judges, no winners and losers, and no points awarded. The main goal was to share the different children’s talents and powers with everyone. Below a short reportage from the school event. #teachers #community #share #dalton #international
