Strategic Board Mission to China: Strengthening Dalton Governance Across Three Schools

Over the past two weeks, from 18 to 30 May, President of Dalton International Roel Rohner and I conducted a strategic governance visit across three leading International Dalton Schools in China, in our capacity as members of their Boards of Directors.

Our programme began at Shenzhen Dalton Xinhua School, where we carried out formal board‑level consultations, extensive lesson observations, strategic reviews of the next phase of Dalton implementation, seminars, lectures, and meetings with the local Education Bureau. The school’s commitment to pedagogical innovation continues to set a strong benchmark in the region.

We then travelled to Oujiangkou Dalton School in Wenzhou, where several days were dedicated to classroom observations, the Dalton Scholarship Award Ceremony of Oujiangkou School and Dalton International, teacher seminars, and high‑level governance discussions focused on strengthening the school’s long‑term Dalton professionalisation plan. As board members, we worked closely with the leadership team to refine strategic priorities and organisational development pathways.

The final stage of our visit took place at Wenzhou Dalton School, where we conducted student interviews and held a formal Board Meeting dedicated to advancing the school’s Dalton development strategy and reviewing progress across key governance domains.

This governance mission reaffirmed the vitality, ambition, and global relevance of Dalton education in China. I am deeply grateful to all school leaders, teachers, and students for their openness, professionalism, and inspiring commitment to continuous growth.
