A new member of Dalton International Wenzhou Dalton Elementary School

The Dalton school in Wenzhou / China has become an official Member of Dalton International.

 All trainings were led by  highly qualified Dalton International Consultants with a rich practical and theoretical experience. School is supported by a pedagogical team of experienced advisors to ensure that the objectives of Helen Parkhurst´s pedagogical principles are upheld. The implementation of Parkhurst´s principles  are examined by International Dalton Consultants appointed by Dalton International, who serve to maintain the high standard and integrity of Dalton International course programmes.

Online Dalton session for Postgraduate Studies in Poznan

The students of Postgraduate Dalton Studies in Poznan are currently following online sessions of Dalton International. Today´s session concerned `Competencies of Dalton teacher` led by Roel Rohner and Agata Sowinska. Students have been learning the key competences of a Dalton teacher, such as pedogocical, interpersonal, didactical, organizational, cooperative and reflective. After finishing the program of Dalton International the students will receive the certificate `International Dalton teacher`.

The studies takes place at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan under the supervision of prof. Renata Michalak, the member of Dalton International Research Platform. The University is taking an active part in International Dalton reasearch together with Austria, China,  and The Netherlands.

We are happy to announce that Dalton college in Izmir has become an official member of dalton International. We would like to warmly welcome another high quality Dalton school in our foundation. The school is currently following personalized online training to become an official International Dalton School.

The fifth number of Dalton Inspiration magazine

 

The fifth number of `Dalton Inspirations` magazine has just been published. The magazine is published every three months in cooperation with Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Polish Dalton Association and Dalton International. In the fifth edition of the magazine I presented the innovative methods in training ownership with authorial, practical examples as well as new vision on Contract Learning in a secondary Dalton School, aiming mainly at development of learning experience.

Dalton Inspiration  Magazine is published since 2017, each issue is filled with articles that address the questions parents, teachers and principles most often ask about Dalton schools. Parents, teachers, and friends of Dalton International can subscribe individually. Dalton Inspirations answers the questions that every Dalton teacher, parent  and director asks:

• What will Dalton do for my child?
• How can I be sure that it’s working?
• What exactly is my child doing at school?
• What can I do at home to help?
• What can I do to support my child’s school?

Dalton Inspirations magazine will help you understand and appreciate Dalton philosophy, and apply Dalton insights both in theory and practice.

Online seminars for the team of teachers

Wenzhou Dalton Elementary school since January 2020 is attending the regular training of the team of teachers. The digital platform built in the school together with Dalton International is a tool to exchange expertise and develop the school´s own vision on responsibility, freedom, independency and cooperation. The first webinars focused mainly on tailoring the program of each student to match student´s interests and abilities, promoting independence and enhancing student´s social skills along with sense of responsibility towards the others. During the course teachers are studying Dalton philosophy, child development and psychology in the comfort of their homes with interactive online components that include videos, texts, forums where they can chat with mentors and each other.

The specially adjusted program for the school will be realized for three academic years, the process is coordinated by Executive director of Dalton International, Agata Sowinska. Next course start date is April 29. The school is currently following a process of becoming International Dalton School.

 

Delegation of Likeda Education visited Dalton International

In early June 2019, the delegation of Likeda Education went to the Netherlands to visit Dalton International. Led by Roel Rohner, the president of Dalton International, and Dr Agata Sowinska, the head of the Dalton International Research Platform, the delegation visited four local Dalton schools.

First school was Daltonschool de Leeuwerik, Globetrotter in Roterdam, Daltonschool de Achtbaan, Lorentz Daltonschool.

The President of Dalton International attended “Study Lab Theory Unites with A Hundred Years of Dalton Plan”Forum in Wenzhou Dalton Elementary School

Forum “Where East Meets West: Study Lab Theory Unites with A Hundred Years of Dalton Plan ” was successfully held in Wenzhou Dalton Elementary School On 5^th November 2019. Roel Rohner, the President of Dalton International, Paul Bruijn, the Vice-President for Dalton International in Europe, and Agata Sowinska, the Executive Director of Dalton International and the Head of the Dalton International Research Platform, were invited to the forum. On the opening ceremony, students of Wenzhou Dalton Elementary School welcomed the guests who came from afar by performing poetry readings, Chinese martial arts, zither, English songs and traditional Dutch dances. Mr. Zheng Jianhai, the party secretary and the director of Wenzhou Education Bureau, and Mr. Zhou Yifu, the Chief Executive of Longwan District, also delivered their speech on the ceremony. Ms. Bai Lili, Principal of Wenzhou Dalton Elementary School, expressed her appreciation to all the guests who attended the forum.

Postgraduate Dalton Studies in Poznan, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poland

On 7th and 8th of December Dalton International started the training for "International Dalton teacher" at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. Students will have the opportunity to practice their Dalton comptences in the Dutch schools, which are official "Members of Dalton International". The training will last two years. During this seminar the historical value of Dalton Plan together with the competencies of the Dalton teacher were introduced.

Study visit in Dutch Dalton Schools

On 21, 22 and 13rd of November foreign delegations from China (Wenzhou, Shenzhen) and Turkey (Izmir) had an opportunity to observe the classes, make interviews with the teachers and students to learn the functioning of the Dalton Plan in practice. Together with the group of teachers and students evrybody could exchange ideas, concerning implementing independent learning, cooperation, reflection and efficiency in everyday work. The groups have visited "Lorentz" school in Hilversum, "Achtbaan" in Amersfoort, and secondary Dalton school in Almaar "Stediljik College".

International Dalton Conference in Poland

On 18th of November took place an International Dalton Conference in Poland. The conference gathered the guests from all over the world. The conference aimed to bring together leading teachers, directors, academic scientists, researchers and research scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of Alternative Education and Dalton Plan. It also provides a premier interdisciplinary platform for researchers, practitioners, and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the fields of Dalton Education in Dalton International development.

Visit to the Dalton Xinhua School in Shenzhen

From 27th of November we were giving the training sessions and seminars to the team of teachers and parents of Shenzhen Xinhua Dalton School. The session lasted three days and were combined with a visit to the city council, where the board of Dalton International took further steps in cooperation with the city government.

Lectures concerned reform pedagogy, child centered education and many other points of advanced program for certyfying schools.

Class observation and coaching the team of teachers in Wenzhou Dalton Elementary School.

Coaching the team of teachers and class observation in the school took place on 8,9 and 10th of November. In that period three experts from Dalton International were impelmenting Dalton Education principles according to the academic standards of Laboratory Dalton Plan.
